Dear Residents:
Following the upgrade of the flood situation from Advisory to Flood Warning on Monday, April 7th, the homeowner's association wishes to advise you of the following measures that have been organized on your behalf. Public information indicates that the flood water levels are expected to crest in the next few days and rise at least another foot. This puts more residents in the way of flood waters and they are upgrading their activity to protect themselves.
The City of Ottawa will be delivering sand free of charge to two locations in the neighbourhood TODAY. This is for our common consumption. Please help yourselves.
The locations are as follows: the turnaround at Clingin and Aston as well as by the intersection of Marina and Fairway (addresses closest are 6441 and 6437 Marina)
SAND BAGS must still be picked up at the Surface Operations lot located on Rideau Valley Drive North near the Veterinary Clinic. They are open every day from 8 - 4PM every week day AND ADDITIONALLY THEY WILL BE OPEN THIS SAT AND SUN FROM 8-4PM. Drive into the yard and to the back by the white dome.
We have contacted local high schools and cadet corps for volunteer help if and when needed. Anyone available will be on hand this Saturday at the common dirt piles to assist you with Sand bagging from 9 until 4PM. If you can volunteer, bring a shovel and we'll see you there. Wheel barrows and trailers for hauling sand bags may also be useful.
Reminder: Please secure the contents of your back yard. Many items are floating down the river including propane tanks, lawn furniture, docks and such.
I look forward to having a drink with all of you at the AGM on Friday, April 25th once this is hopefully all over!
