As you know we have had great difficulty in obtaining a strong enough signal from our tower at the clubhouse to meet the needs of many potential customers. Last week we conducted extensive tests with different solutions. We were able to determine that there are two related problems to be overcome. While our wireless products have been proven to penetrate, can see through significant amounts of foliage, it turns out that the effect of trees that are within 100 to 200 feet of the antenna create a different and much more significant interference with the signal. This problem exists at both ends of the link.
The solution our engineers have come up with is to increase the height of the antenna at the clubhouse by 20-30 feet to see over the nearby trees. At your end, it will be necessary to place your antenna such that there is as much distance between the antenna and the nearest trees - although we do not necessarily have to be above the treetops.
To achieve the necessary height at the clubhouse it will be necessary to replace the existing tripod on the cupola with a proper 68' tower behind the clubhouse. The tower will be less unsightly than the existing mast so I think it would be welcomed by the residents as an improvement.
The challenge is that the building of the tower will require an additional investment of several thousand dollars. While we believe that there is likely enough business in the area to justify the investment, we cannot be sure at this time.
We know that our existing customers have been more than patient and we do appreciate it. We would like to reciprocate and, at the same time, follow our policy of making sure that every point of presence we open is sustainable. So, we would like to make the following offer to all residents of the CGYC: we will offer 1 month of free service for all residents who sign up for our annual payment plan within the next two weeks. As soon as we obtain 10 customers on this plan we will proceed with the tower installation immediately. Of course, no money will be collected until the tower is fully committed and there will be no charges in the event that service is still not feasible to your particular home even after the tower is built.
