Santa Party & Horse Drawn Trolley Rides
We had a great turnout at our Santa Party at the CG&Y Clubhouse, including a visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself!
Kids enjoyed making marshmallow snowmen, colouring pages and face painting. Everyone shared some holiday cheer with snacks and refreshments.
Two of our students focused on the importance of giving by selling their handmade Christmas crafts and greeting cards and raising $50 for Welcome Box.
The party was followed by horse-drawn trolley rides through a circuit in the neighbourhood. The entire event felt a lot like Christmas despite the warmer temperatures and lack of snow.
Thanks to the staff at Carleton Golf & Yacht, The Scharfs and their horse team, St. Nick, our helpers – Grace and Piper and our Events Director, Denae Moores, who put on such a wonderful event.
Community Safety
PROTECT YOURSELF & YOUR PETS
- As the days get shorter, darkness falls earlier and neighbours who walk in the evening become less visible to drivers.

Speeding within the Carleton Golf and Yacht Community
In the interests of safety, the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club Homeowners’ Association encourages residents to “Keep It To 40 km/h” and to ask that their visitors do the same.Did you know that:
- 5 per cent of pedestrians die when struck by a vehicle at 32 km/h?
- Fatalities increase to 85 per cent at only 64 km/h?
The CGYHA receives many complaints about speeding within our community, particularly on Upton Road and Fairway Drive.
We need your help!
What Can You Do To Help?
- Keep your speed within our community to the posted 40km/h;
- Encourage your neighbours, visitors and service providers to keep it to 40km/h;
- Report speeders to the Ottawa Police Service.
There are two ways to report speeders to the OPS:
- By calling the non-emergency line at: 613-236-1222, ext. 7300
- Via online reporting: ottawapolice.ca/en/contact-us/Online-Reporting.asp
- make/model/colour of car
- any identifying features (company logo, personalized licence plate)
- licence plate # (or partial)
- any details about the driver (gender, colour of hair)
- date and approximate time and location, direction vehicle was travelling, noting outside what specific address, if possible.

The Manotick Village Community Association has launched a campaign to keep the speed limit to 40 km/h in the village.The impetus behind this initiative, even though the posted speed limit in the Village is currently 50 km/h, is to improve safety.
