Image Posted on Updated on

Sept 17th & 18th
10am – 5pm
Admission is free & all are welcome!

On Saturday and Sunday, don’t miss stops #13 & #14 – both are at the corner of Fairway /Marina Drive, within our Carleton Golf  & Yacht neighborhood. Come see what is being created just around the corner of your own home!

At stop #13 (1304 Fairway Dr), acclaimed oil painter, B Jane Magee, hosts Czech potter, Barbora Balaban, and precious gemstone jeweler, Hélène Watelle.

Next door at stop #14 (6648 Marina Dr), potter Lara Charlebois features her intricately underglaze-painted plates and bird bowls, and hosts three artists: digital collage art by Moira Law; copper jewelry by Wendy Southin, and paintings by former CGYHA resident, Pat Carbonneau.

The Discovery Tour is a great opportunity to meet local artists and artisans –  more than 35 participants at 14 stops all within an 8 km radius of North Gower.

Tour participants include visual artists in all media; potters, nature photographers, jewelers, blown & stained glass makers, sculptors and textile artists. Some will offer demos. North Gower Food Bank donations are welcome.

Keep it to 40 colour
FREE “Keep it To 40 kmh” Lawn Signs are available at Manotick Office Pro during regular business hours.

Our community has a problem with speeding, even though our posted speed limit is 40 km/h.
The CGYHA receives many complaints about speeding within our community, particularly on Upton Road and Fairway Drive.

What Can You Do To Help?

Report  Speeding to the Ottawa Police Service
The Ottawa Police Service encourages people to contact them with information about speeders.  The OPS does investigate all reports of speeding and does follow up on each report.

There are two ways to report speeders to the OPS:

12771851-23053263-thumbnailWild Parsnip, a noxious and invasive plant that can have very serious side effects if it comes in contact with your skin, has been found along Upton Road and Aston Road.

Councillor Moffatt has good information on his website about the plant, how to identify it, what can happen if you come in contact with it, options control it (and what NOT to do) and how to prepare it for disposal.

Test Your Household Water by Lisa Geraghty

Image Posted on Updated on

As residents of a rural community, household water comes from private wells. The safety of that water is the responsibility of individual homeowners. To protect the members of your household, ensure that  “well water is tested for bacteria three times a year and after major plumbing work.”*City of Ottawa

The City of Ottawa offers free well water testing with rural drop-off locations close to our community. For more information on maintaining healthy well water and the rural drop-off schedule, use the following link:
